Jumbo Pearl Fee Coturnix Quail Hatching Eggs
The Jumbo Pearl Fee is one of those Coturnix that is hard not to notice when you walk past the pen.
These birds have a beautiful mix of black, white, silver, and gray feathers that gives them quite a bit of contrast. Every bird can look a little different, and I think that is part of the fun of raising them. You never get tired of seeing how the young ones feather out.
As much as I enjoy the color, though, I still want a bird to be more than just pretty.
My Jumbo Pearl Fees are being selected for good size, health, temperament, fertility, and strong genetics. I like a Coturnix with some body to it, and my goal is to keep the attractive Pearl Fee coloring while continuing to work toward the jumbo size I want in my birds.
They make a good choice for anyone wanting a Coturnix that can serve as a useful bird for eggs and meat while also adding something a little different to the quail pen.
Another thing I appreciate about the Pearl Fee is that they are feather sexable as they mature. Males and females develop different markings, making it possible to sort the sexes by their feather patterns rather than waiting until they are old enough to vent sex.
There are plenty of fancy-colored Coturnix out there, but I have always thought the Pearl Fee has a nice balance.
Hatching eggs are collected from our breeding flock here at Double L Quail Farm in Tennessee.
Why I like this line:
Jumbo Coturnix size
Beautiful black, white, silver, and gray coloring
Feather sexable
Good dual-purpose birds for eggs and meat
Selected for health, temperament, fertility, and genetics
Pretty is nice, but I still like a bird with some size to it.
