Jumbo Egyptian Coturnix Quail Hatching Eggs

The Jumbo Egyptian is one of those birds that has a little something different about it without getting too far away from the traditional Coturnix look.

Egyptians have much of the same natural feather pattern you see on the old-fashioned brown or Pharaoh Coturnix, but the coloring is lighter and warmer. They have more of a soft reddish, cinnamon, or sandy look to them, and I have always thought they were a particularly nice-looking bird.

Of course, color only gets you so far. I still want a Coturnix that has some size and usefulness to it.

My Jumbo Egyptians are being selected for good size, health, temperament, fertility, and strong genetics. I like birds that can earn their keep, and the jumbo lines give you a good dual-purpose Coturnix for both eggs and meat while still being enjoyable to look at in the pen.

Another nice thing about the Egyptian is that they are feather sexable as they mature. The hens develop the spotted breast pattern while the males have a cleaner, more solid-colored breast, making males and females easier to identify once their adult feathers start coming in.

Hatching eggs are collected from our breeding flock here at Double L Quail Farm in Tennessee.
