Jumbo Brown Pharaoh Coturnix Quail Live Birds
This is for Live Bird Pickup. We do not ship live birds-these are for farm pickup only.
The Jumbo Brown is about as classic as Coturnix quail get, and sometimes the old-fashioned birds are still some of the best.
These birds have the natural brown, tan, and darker markings that most people picture when they think of Coturnix quail. It is a simple, traditional pattern, but when you stop and really look at one, there is quite a bit of beauty in those feathers.
I have always liked birds that are useful first and pretty second, and the Jumbo Brown gives you both.
My Jumbo Browns are being selected for good size, health, temperament, fertility, and strong genetics. I want a bird with some body to it — something that makes a good dual-purpose Coturnix for both eggs and meat while still keeping that traditional look.
Another thing I appreciate about the Brown Coturnix is that they are feather sexable as they mature. The hens develop a spotted chest while the males have a more solid rusty-colored chest, making it fairly easy to tell your males from your females once they feather out. They may not be the fanciest color in the pen, but there is something to be said for a good, healthy brown Coturnix with plenty of size.
If you are looking for a dependable jumbo bird with the traditional Coturnix appearance, this is a line that is hard to go wrong with.
Hatching eggs are collected from our breeding flock here at Double L Quail Farm in Tennessee.
Why I like this line:
Jumbo Coturnix size
Classic natural brown coloring
Feather sexable
Good dual-purpose birds for eggs and meat
Selected for health, temperament, fertility, and genetics
Sometimes you just can't improve much on a good old-fashioned brown quail.
